With the beginning of the new school year, we must follow the guidelines of the Nation School Lunch Program (NSLP) that allows us to only feed students enrolled at Desert Sands Unified School District schools.

  • Grab-and-Go meals are offered at ALL of our schools.
  • The following DSUSD schools qualify for the Federal meal program CEP and students attending these schools DO NOT need to submit a meal application:
  • Amistad High
  • Hoover Elementary
  • Indio Middle
  • Jackson Elementary
  • Jefferson Middle
  • Kennedy Elementary
  • Lincoln Elementary
  • La Quinta Middle
  • Roosevelt Elementary
  • VanBuren Elementary 
  • Franklin Elementary (approved 08/21/2020)
  • Carrillo Ranch Elementary (approved 08/21/2020)
  • Dr. Carreon Elementary (approved 08/21/2020)
  • Johnson Elementary (approved 08/21/2020)
  • Madison Elementary (approved 08/21/2020)
  • Truman Elementary (approved 08/21/2020)
  • Indio High (approved 08/21/2020)
  • Distribution of meals will take place on MONDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS.On Monday, two days of meals will be provided. On Wednesday, three days of meals will be provided. Both breakfast and lunch will be provided.
  • Time of meal distribution is 7:00-9:30 am face covering is required.
  • Pick up of meals will follow the same curb-side service as summer "grab-and-go".
  • Students do not need to be present for pick-up.
  • Adults picking up the meals must provide the name(s) for whom the meals are being picked up. Meals will be provided only to students enrolled at Desert Sands Unified School District schools. Adults may pick up meals for students at all DSUSD schools. Face covering is required.
  • Meal distribution staff will check off the name of each student served and notify the adult if the student meal account will be charged.
  • Pick up of meals for students enrolled at the schools with the free meal program will not be charged for their meals.

Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.
